Connecting on a personal level is an important part of sharing ideas. On this page we'll present some details about our organization and the people behind it.

Our Staff:

Rex Ball

Our current Tulsa Art Deco Society board president is Rex Ball.  He has been with the organization since its inception and he is a Tulsa icon himself.  He has been involved with or been on the board of every major architectural association in town.  He is a walking encyclopedia of Art Deco knowledge for the greater metropolitan Tulsa area and he is, effectively, the patriarch of this organization.

Dr. Joe Nicholson
Our Vice-President is Joe Nicholson.  Joe was a local family medicine physician for many years in the Tulsa area and now is the VP of Health Care Management and Chief Medical Officer for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Oklahoma.  He is a fan of vintage films, more recent "Dark Deco" films, and enjoys Art Deco lamps, architecture and art.  He also enjoys photography and has taken most of the architectural photos on this website.  He also serves as our webmaster.

Sarah Gatlin
Sarah is our Secretary.  She is an awesome addition to our board.  Sarah works in Advertising at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Oklahoma and loves "everything Art Deco".  She is currently responsible for multiple internal publications for Blue Cross and will complete her Masters degree this Fall.

Steve Alter, AIA, NCARB
Steve is our board Treasurer.  We are very excited to have Steve on our board.  He is an experienced architect in Oklahoma and is well connected in the Tulsa and greater Oklahoma architectural network.  He is the Director of Development Team Services Group, CB Richard Ellis and owner of Pro Tulsa.

Mike Benton
Michael is a long-time board member, and we are privileged to have him.  Mike is passionate about Art Deco and is an amazing wood working artisan in his "spare time".  He makes a variety of items to include those with a Deco flare.  If you have a moment - look at our "links" page and check out Mike's work.

Our Programs

We are looking for volunteers who are well versed in Tulsa history who would have an interest in doing Art Deco tours of downtown Tulsa.  Please contact us if you have an interest.
